Teen Programs and Events

We welcome teens to join us for all sorts of events geared just for them. Anyone is able to participate, even if you don't have a Fargo Public Library card. Some programs and events require registration, and others are first come, first serve. If registration is required, it will be listed in the details for each event.

2024 Northern Narratives Writing Project Accepting Submissions February 1 – March 31

The Fargo Public Library is seeking submissions for our eighth annual Northern Narratives, a writing project that aims to inspire local and regional writers and serve as a community heirloom. Selected submissions will be included in the library's North Dakota Collection. We are accepting submissions online at our Wufoo link from Feb.1 through March 31, 2024 in three categories: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The program is open to teens 13 years or older and adults; there is no fee to submit your work.

2024 Submission Categories:
Fiction: 1,000 – 6,000 words
Nonfiction: 1,000 – 6,000 words
Poetry: 1,000 words or less per poem

All submissions must be original, unpublished, proofread, and edited works. All rules, guidelines, information and frequently asked questions (FAQs) are available here. The selection committee reserves the right to withhold publication at their discretion.

Eva With Sled Dog

Dreaming Big: Dog Sled Racing With Eva Robinson

At 17-years-old, Eva Robinson of Cavalier, ND is already a veteran competitive musher. She and her dogs have participated in numerous races, including the Jr. Iditarod and the Jr. Beargrease where she took first place in 2021. All ages are invited to hear Eva's inspiring story of dreaming big, persevering to fulfill a 10-year dream of racing in the Alaska wilderness, staying humble, and never quitting. She will also introduce us to one of her team dogs! No registration is required for this all ages event.

Celebrate National Velociraptor Day with needle fleted dinosaurs

Needle Felted Dinosaurs

Celebrate National Velociraptor day at the library by making a needle felted dinosaur. Needle felting is an easy, quick, and relaxing technique for beginning crafters and experienced artists alike. Registration is required and opens April 4.

Teen Canvas Spray Painting

Canvas Spray Painting

Come in and try spray painting! We will be practicing on cardboard before making our final pieces on canvas. Wear something comfortable and that you're okay with getting permanent paint on. Registration is required and opens April 20.
Saturday, May 4 – Dr. James Carlson Library at 1 p.m.
